Frequent iPhone question: How can I extract data from an iPhone backup file?
My iPhone 4S recently stopped working, and it was deemed unrepairable. I have the latest back up file on my PC, and I want to extract all my files from the backup i’ve made. Any idea to do it?
Then answer is positive! As long as you enable the iTunes synchronization function, every time you connect iPhone with computer, iTunes can update a backup for your device automatically. However, the iTunes backup file is a SQlitedb file that we can’t view or rewrite. Therefore, even you have the backup files, nothing available you can get. The only way to extract iPhone backup is using some iPhone backup extractor program such as iTunes Data Recovery, which can help to extract contacts, text messages, notes, picture, call history, voice memos, even Safari bookmarks from iPhone 6 Plus/6/5S/5C/5/4S/4/3GS, iPad and iPod Touch. What’s more, it supports the newest iOS 8.
By the way, when reading here, maybe some iPhone users would ask where is the iTunes backup files located on computer? Take a look at the list:
* Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
* Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
* Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
